This was a general, two-year degree, with a curriculum focus on completing general education requirements for transfer to any four-year university in Virginia.
This degree also includes minor studies in Writing and Rhetoric as well as Secondary Education.
This degree, while including general study in topics such as behavior management and curriculum design, has a concentrated focus in methods for teaching English to the secondary grades.
Nick worked as a teacher and administrator in the public education system in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. In his time there, he wrote a variety of projects. some projects were assigned, while many were voluntary. He wrote a large variety of his own course materials, as is common for new teachers. Nick also was the primary author of a successful grant in application for a state-sponsored workforce development program. He also assisted in the authoring of a broader grant that requested federal funds a regional adult education program. The presented sample is an excerpt of course materials, from an English writing unit, written for low-proficiency students.
Nick has developed a blog. He moved to New York City, from the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, in July of 2016. He felt the time was right to begin writing about his personal experiences in adjust to big-city life. The blog is still young, but has so far covered topics such as strange fashion trends and group think behavior. He has also used his blog to communicate a political letter to a candidate from his previous voting district. He did so because he knew that the individual personally read his social media accounts and would see it.
