Kevin is a published author and a precise editor with an eye for detail and an ear for flow. He offers over 15 years’ experience in law, writing, editing, science communication, and education. He combines the analytical and detail-oriented skills of a practicing attorney with the flexible, creative, and adaptive mindset of a teacher and creator.

During his graduate study, Kevin gained rich experience in research, writing, analysis, and editing. He holds a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Colorado at Denver, where he focused on 19th Century British Women Writers, and a Juris Doctor from the New York University School of Law. While at law school, Kevin was a member of the New York University Law Review and served as Managing Editor of the Review during his final year. The Hon. John C. Porfilio of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit selected Kevin to serve as Law Clerk—Kevin’s first professional position after graduating law school. As Law Clerk, Kevin reviewed appellate legal briefs, researched the underlying law, analyzed the legal issues before the court, wrote legal memoranda to the court recommending potential dispositions, drafted court opinions after the Court’s adjudication, and edited and proofread the Court’s final opinion for publication in the Federal Reporter.

As a practicing attorney, Kevin gained experience in many areas, including corporate transactions, criminal defense, juvenile proceedings, insurance defense litigation, family law, property law, estate planning, contracts, municipal law, and appellate practice. He wrote the winning appellate briefs in Brousseau v. Brousseau, 2007 Vt. 77 (2007). Based on this broad experience, Kevin is adept at handling most fields of legal writing.

Kevin is a regular visiting teacher at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont, teaching persuasive legal writing, copyright, law, and a first-year writing seminar on graphic novels. In these writing-intensive courses, Kevin teaches students how to write, revise, and edit. He provides each student with extensive feedback on their work, helping students understand how to focus, revise, and restructure their early drafts and hone, streamline, and polish their later drafts. In addition to his experience teaching college students, Kevin has 10 years’ experience providing curricula to primary and secondary students.

Kevin’s published works include professional and scholarly articles, a legal guide, a comic collection, and multiple comic stories on science and the environment.
