Kristen enjoys reading, baking, running, gardening, singing on her churchâ€™s praise team and traveling.
Kristen earned her bachelor's degree in Integrative Public Relations with a minor in Advertising, which included courses in journalism, communications, broadcasting, and public relations. Her courses also included English, marketing and business ethics.
Kristen has six and a half years experience working in communications at a Fortune 500 financial services company. The majority of her career focused on employee engagement and satisfaction for her division, which consisted of 30,000 employees. She honed her skills writing web articles for her divisionâ€™s Intranet site, newsletters, mass emails, online toolkits and presentations. She also gained experience working in business continuity where she wrote communications targeted to key executives and leaders within the division and key business partners to disclose the status of operations regarding 11 lines of business made up of 30,000 employees.
For two years, Kristen worked as a communications coordinator at a nonprofit hospital in northern Michigan. At the hospital, Kristen wrote and edited a wide range of communication collateral including brochures, newsletters, promotional materials and articles for internal and community-wide distribution. She built and maintained positive relationships with media representatives and fostered positive coverage by preparing press releases, pitching stories and arranging interviews with patients and employees.
During her time as the communications coordinator at the hospital, Kristen prepared numerous press releases to promote the staff and programs within the hospital. These press releases helped the hospital to gain coverage in the local newspapers and local television news programs.
Kristen has extensive experience writing emails targeted to various levels of employees within a Fortune 500 company. Subjects of these emails range in topics regarding employee satisfaction and engagement information to business continuity information.
Kristenâ€™s newsletter writing and design experience spans across eight and a half years in the healthcare and financial services industries. These range from daily briefings to monthly newsletters and targeted audience sizes made up of 1,700 to 30,000 employees.
