After finishing her doctoral degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, Tessa will have written four professional-grade academic course papers, one extended thesis and two dissertations through the course of my academic career, all to high esteem. Education

Princeton University

Tessa attended Princeton University as an undergraduate in Italian studies with a minor in vocal performance. While at Princeton, she completed two junior papers and an 83-page thesis, all of which received honors.

University of Michigan

Though this was a performance degree, Tessa continued to write and research throughout her Masters. Her research focuses were Jewish Italian art song of the World War II era, and music influenced by the Chinese, Japanese and Indian cultures. While at the University of Michigan, Tessa was a finalist for a Fulbright to Italy.

University of Colorado Boulder

For this degree, Tessa has written two dissertations and researched numerous topics. Her first dissertation is focused on the development of the character of Mother Marie from historical context to "Song at the Scaffold" by von le Fort to "Dialogues des Carmelites" by Bernanos to the opera "Dialogues des Carmelites" by Poulenc. Her second dissertation focuses on the singer's formant and its role in different styles of singing, including opera, musical theater, jazz, pop and Hindustani. Tessa also studies Norwegian folk and art song, and Carnatic and Hindustani singing.
