Kailyn took courses in magazine and newspaper writing, copy editing, video editing, photojournalism, page layout and design, as well as courses on magazine design and production. For a Social Documentary class, Kailyn traveled to Washington D.C. during the government shut down to cover stories there.
While attending Columbia, Kailyn Covered all five boroughs. She concentrated on expansion on multimedia skills such as video and online centric writing. She was the Photo Editor for the Off the News class, which focused primarily online deadline writing. Kailyn's masters project focused on environmental journalism, specifically the human impact on the sea turtle populations in the North Atlantic Region.
As part of her degree at Columbia, Kailyn completed a long form article on a subject of her choice. Her article was on human impact on sea turtles population in the North Atlantic. She interviewed rescue organizations in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, on some of the problems sea turtles face on a daily basis in this area.
Kailyn is currently finishing a "ghostly travel guide" entitled Ghosthunting Colorado. The book is broken into chapters and each chapter features one location in the state that has a haunted reputation. Kailyn's book details some of the spiritual activity in the area along with the history of the site. The book is part of the America's Haunted Roadtrip Series by Keen Communications.
