Sherilyn attended the University of California, San Diego from 2012 to 2016, graduating one quarter earlier than the rest of her peers. It was here that she discovered her passion for writing and her love for artful words, more specifically, in her communication classes and internships.
As UC San Diego's Marketing and Communications intern from 2014 to 2016, Sherilyn wrote several press releases for university media including but not limited to the UC San Diego News Center, This Week @ UC San Diego, and the Volunteer 50 newsletter. Although only an intern at the time, the content she produced proved that her skills went far beyond the typical intern role. She made accomplishments that no other intern in the position had before, such as media coverage from local and even international news stations.
Sherilyn has written a myriad of blog articles, ranging from B2B marketing content to decor tips and tricks. She can communicate in a handful of different tones, from youthful and lighthearted to educational and snarky. Her active social media use has taught her the handful of blog writing styles.
A former employee of UC San Diego's Communication and Public Affairs department, Sherilyn has solo-authored dozens of press releases in AP style. She is able to translate information, data, interviews, and quotes into a readable and concise press release. She understands the importance of an enticing hook as well as an organized body.
