Mark Carlson achieved a Bachelor of Arts at Columbia College of Columbia University in the City of New York. He studied economics, with particular focus on behavioral issues. For example, under what circumstances will economic agents behave irrationally? Can non-traditional metrics better predict borrower default than standard credit scores? Do markets properly price political risk? He graduated in December 2015.
Mark is an expert on subprime consumer credit: payday, pawn, car title, and rent-to-own. He has written for industry participants and for academic journals.
Mark wrote paid blog posts for a major FinTech start-up. He researched industry conditions, and how this particular lender set itself apart from the competition by facilitating healthier relationships with borrowers.
