Robert has a wide range of experience in Business, Construction, Real Estate and the Arts. His business career has focused on the construction industry. He worked in the wholesale distribution industry for a number of years, and learned the products and construction techniques in the commercial building area. This experience included sales, estimating, purchasing, and inventory management.

In addition, Robert worked in the field as a carpenter, tile setter, field supervisor and project manager in the residential construction trade. Working in the construction area eventually led Robert to enter the real estate business, where he sold residential real estate and eventually began to build spec houses. This provided valuable experience in following a project through from inception to project closeout.

Estimating and purchasing round out Robert's construction knowledge. He has worked on projects from small orders to million dollar plus projects. He uses his analytical and organizational skills to provide the best possible project outcome.

Robert is also active in writing. He is currently working on a novel, and had written a series of children's stories. In addition, he has written sales training programs and company brochures. He also enjoys writing poetry and songs.

Robert studied at Universities in the Southeast and the West. Having not completed his degree as a youngster, Robert continued his education through distance learning as an adult at Eastern Oregon University through their Portfolio Program. This program allowed Robert to use life and work experiences as a basis for some of his curriculum. Research papers were written on business and experiential subjects to create a "Portfolio" of written works that are reviewed by potential clients or employers.

Robert has experience in writing and presenting sales training programs and company brochures. He has been a leader in promoting excellent customer service to his fellow employees and providing training materials and information to help those employees implement better sales techniques to improve customer service. These programs have included seminars to improve product knowledge and improve expertise in the specifications and usage of various products.

As Director of Development at the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center in Lynchburg, Virginia, one of Robert's responsibilities was to research and apply for grants from various local and national foundations to supplement the annual fund and budget of the center. This involved soliciting grant applications and procedures from these organizations, and then compile the grant requests within the guidelines prescribed by the foundation.
