Adam completed his BA in English, concentrating on Technical and Professional Writing. The degree has given him the experience necessary to communicate in various professional contexts, and as a result of earning the BA, Adam has worked with Lowe's Home Improvement Corporate Offices (a fortune 500 company) and small businesses alike.

University of North Carolina at Charlotte

During his graduate studies at UNC Charlotte, Adam worked to hone his creative writing skills, placing a strong emphasis in fiction and creative non-fiction. Since earning his degree, his work has been published in nationally recognized literary journals such as Appalachian Heritage, The South Carolina Review, The Bellevue Literary Review, Cold Mountain Review, SmokeLong Quarterly, and elsewhere. He has won the Ron Rash Award for short fiction and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for fiction. In addition, his work has been reprinted in Surreal South ‘13: An Anthology of Short Fiction (Press 53). Currently, he mentors for PEN America’s Prison Writing Program.

University of South Carolina

Adam is currently studying in the PhD program in Composition and Rhetoric at USC. Here, he is researching modern and classical theories of composition/rhetoric and how digital composition is changing the way we read and write.
