Barbara has worked with a variety of clients to produce production and business affairs procedures manual. Some clients have been in entertainment (television). One entity was a small television studio, one a major studio, another was a young network, and the last was a new television division that needed to instruct personnel on production for a new player, Netflix.
Hired by a third party, Barb wrote content for their clients including a personal injury attorney. This content for the lawyer's website included the web landing page, an article, four follow-up posts, social media PR blasts (i.e., Facebook, Twitter), and a script for online video. Another client was a retail store (herbs, vitamins, healing) and their web page.
Barbara was contracted to re-structure document for a professional employer group in New Jersey, outlining processes and procedures to train new associates, and be a reference for established employees. After this project, she was brought back to work with the head of IT in getting a five-year plan created, along with learning new programs and setting up tracking of talent resources in MS Project.
The writer currently works as a digital editor for a marketing company serving auto dealerships. The 2016 models are out or coming between now and the end of the year. Days are spent explaining to writers about original content in the format desired by the employers and clients while staying compliant. The job is to keep the writing enthusiastic and within the rules and regulations of federal and state laws. Writers are not aware of all of the legal issues circling the work, but as that is the editor's job and is done by instructions, and examples. Often instructions are revised based on the level of difficulty by the writers to complete a project.
It's not as easy as some might think it is to write about cars. While we all drive them, there is a finesse to getting a reader excited about a car's performance and features.
Barbara was contracted to work on a book for skin care expert, medspa owner and aesthetic nurse guru to the stars (published 5/26/14 coordinated with a line of products being sold in Harrods in London).The book went over procedures, products, incidents, and promotion.
Barbara worked for a Manager of sound editors and composers. Barb drafted contracts, wrote artist's bios, contacted studio executives for meetings with the manager and composers and sound editors. She also set up tracking of deals in Excel in the industry (film and television) on all sound components.
None of the paid projects have been are in the same industry very often. The areas of work have spanned legal, SEO, computer, security, health & fitness to fashion. It is easy to write blogs for fascinating topics just as much as for clients who have passion about their business, and community.
Social media is something everyone should be doing to find, tap into, engage, and respond to the customer base. Facebook posts are intended to engage, inform, and entertain. Great posts can do what's expected and help create leads, and conversions. It is the job of the writer to create insightful, clever, tight copy that pops!
Product description tells the consumer what they can expect to get, and if it is what they are needing. Properly researched, the copy for the product notifies of all the pertinent information required to get the consumer to buy. Carefully crafted, the words can make even a portable washer sound deliciously top of the must have list.
Video scripts were contracted for use on websites, or for YouTube. Each project was written pursuant to the client's request and direction. The video scripts are in written in the proper shooting format with video shots on the left and correlating audio/dialogue on the right. Dialogue and video are timed and formatted to synch up.
