From May 2015 to April 2016 Thomas was the Co-Chair of MAPTA, a scientific organization of the Houston Methodist Research Institute, organizing social events, scientific meetings, and supporting over 300 trainees with education, networking, extra-/intramural activities, career development, and advancement opportunities He organized activities and lectures for over 75 student researchers of the 2015 Summer Internship Program at the Houston Methodist Hospital.
