Pavel is currently a self-employed English-Russian Translator. He took his MA in English philology in 1975 and started his career teaching English to high school and university students in Russia. He also did his post-graduate research in text theory: development and compression of scientific written texts in English. Having started as a freelance translator/interpreter with the Far-Eastern Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in 1988 Pavel was employed by the CCI as a senior consultant-interpreter and later promoted to become the Head of the Translations Department. He has got wide experience in consulting and interpreting at various business negotiations while accompanying Russian and foreign business delegations and public figures both in Russia and abroad, interpreting at numerous international conferences, symposia and seminars. In 1994, he did internship in translation at a major US translation company under the Partnership: Business for Russia program and holds a special Certificate of Appreciation issued to him by the USIA. Thereupon, he actively co-operated with IREX/USIA in Moscow as one of the 4 members of the US screening committee. In 1996, Pavel became a member of the Translators Union of Russia. Since 2012, he is a member of the American Translators Association.
