After earning her Diploma in Modern Languages, Silvia entered the job market with several positions as a Telemarketer and In-store Sales Promoter, but quite quickly obtained her first permanent contract as staff employee with the role of Translator/Interpreter in the Export Department at a material handling company. Pursuing a career as a professional translator, she continued her education with post-graduate courses at City University, London, earned a Master’s in Translation in 2005, and also received the renowned IoLET Diploma in Translation in 2008, specializing in Technology and Science. This all allowed Silvia to make the leap from staff employee to independent professional in 2009, first as a freelancer, and then as business owner in 2010.

Not to limit her skills to technical translation only, she also attended the course “Translating for the Publishing Industry” and trained as a literary translator with a special coach: Isabella C. Blum, famous for translating the Italian versions of books from Barnes & Noble, Penguin Press, Random House, and many others. Silvia translated and edited several books, ranging from coffee table books and children’s books to historic essays and a travel guidebook.
