Aaron is passionate about working with poetry, fiction, and non-fiction.
Aaron's goal as editor is not to provide a formula for success; rather, he seeks to connect with the writer's source of inspiration, to clarify the intended messages, and to help polish each piece as it nears completion.
There's nothing like some one-on-one feedback to encourage that next creative step down the winding path from first draft to a polished, cohesive whole. Whether you are a new writer who is navigating the path to publication for the first time or an established writer simply looking for some new approaches, Aaron can help you take your existing work--the "big picture" concepts and themes as well as key details and phrases--and create a full-length book, collection, or chapbook.
Aaron's editorial skills are best suited for writing that engages with nature, environmental topics, self-development, psychology, consciousness, Eastern spirituality, and related fields.
These interests are most apparent in Aaron's work as founder and editor in chief of Wild Roof Journal, an online art and literature publication. Each issue of WRJ includes an eclectic mixture of visual art, poetry, and prose that is selected for its depth of expression and evocative presentation.
Concentration in 20th Century American fiction, including Don DeLillo, David Foster Wallace, and Marilynne Robinson.
Aaron has 12+ years of experience as an English professor, teaching a range of writing and literature courses. These classes practice the skill of creating clear and engaging prose, but that also emphasize many aspects of practical communication strategies such as proposal, problem solving, and persuasion.
Additionally, Aaron has worked as a freelance editor for higher-ed textbook companies.
Every other month, Aaron publishes an issue of Wild Roof Journal, an online art and literature publication. As editor in chief, Aaron has a hand in all aspects of the issue development cycle, from selecting the pieces that are included, to organizing the pieces into cohesive galleries, to finalizing the layout and formatting.
There are 40-45 contributors for each issue, so great care is taken to present each creator's work in the most engaging way possible.
