Meet writer Jon Erik C from Boston, MA!
Q. If you had a catchphrase, what would it be?
A. “Wait, why’d I walk into this room?”
Q. What is your day job super power?
A. Finding new and creative ways to get distracted.
Q. Best advice you’ve ever received?
A. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.” It’s not advice I received from a real person (it’s by fictional character Tyrion Lannister from the A Song of Ice and Fire book series), but I think it’s valuable nonetheless.
Q. Favorite hat?
A. Ha! My head is too big to wear most hats, but I do respect the drama of a top hat.
Q. If there was a movie based on your life, what actor/actress would play you?
A. Oh gosh, as if Hollywood had actors that look like me. I think I’d have to go with Seth Rogen?
Q. What would the title of the movie be?
A. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Awkward
Q. Favorite thing about WA?
A. The forums. I’ve never posted, but I love how it’s such a friendly bastion of information and community. I have learned so much from poring through the posts, and the people seem genuinely really kind.
Q. Favorite writer, dead or alive?
A. This is a tortuous question, so I’m going to choose three: Mary Roach, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Clive Barker.
Q. What’s your guilty pleasure?
A. Nothing! I openly enjoy all the things I enjoy.
Q. Favorite breakfast food?
A. Belgian waffles, for sure.
Q. Little known fact about you?
A. For two years in a row, I “krumped” in front my entire high school for the talent show.
Q. What can’t you live without?
A. My imagination.
Q. What advice would you like to leave off with for your fellow writers?
A. Trust your voice. There’s nothing more important in writing than authenticity.
