  • A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words – For the majority of social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) the quality and usefulness of one’s words is what is most important. Tumblr’s biggest draw, however, is its pictures. Get creative and have your team create eye-catching images on Photoshop. The goal is to have your content incite an emotional response from the user. Images and GIFs are much more engaging for the type of consumer that you’re trying to reach. Tumblr is a great place to be creative and make your images memorable. Consider what makes your brand/company visually appealing. How about some ‘behind-the-scenes’ images of what goes on at the office so customers can feel like they’re a real part of the team?
  • Don’t Forget to ‘Like’ and Reblog’! While a major mode of communication behind Twitter and Facebook is to ‘retweet’ and ‘like’ content that you find appealing, Tumblr’s go-to is the ‘reblog’ button. Reblogging allows you to share information on your feed from other users that you follow. You can search for posts that relate your brand or company, and reblog images and/or messages that really stand out. This is a great way to let consumers know that you value their opinions and their views are major contributions to your business.
  • Create a Unique Theme – Put a unique, personal touch on your blog by creating a theme.  Use your company colors to advertise the business and draw in other bloggers who may be interested in the services you or your business can offer. Hundreds of themes are available through Tumblr’s database, and, to the users’ delight, most of them are free. You can also customize the HTML in any theme.   • Follow Today’s Trends – Stay up to-date with today’s current market trends to engage with the consumer. Don’t be afraid to ask your followers for their opinions on certain hot topics in order to get a good flow of communication and conversation going within the blog. Getting opinions from the source (i.e. – the consumer) is a great way to create a ‘mental list’ of what to do and what not to do as a marketer.

There are many benefits to using Tumblr as a social media platform to interact with consumers. The most important aspect is how quick and easy Tumblr is to manage and use.  It’s a great way to engage and converse with millennials who are usually more attracted to graphics rather than pages of type.
