Summary of Product Experience

Script/Video

Tom demonstrated an inherent aptitude for video scriptwriting with his first television commercial. Tom was tasked with writing a 15-second television spot with a two-day insertion date. With neither a budget nor the luxury of time to get local talent scripted and ready for a shoot, Tom decided the entire spot had to be done with graphics and sound effects, alone.

The results were excellent and the insertion date deadline was met, which greatly pleased the client. In fact, Tom's commercial was so effective, it was actually reproduced on broadcast television with a major production makeover for a national oil-change service three months after his commercial aired regionally in Georgia. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, they say.

Below is a sample of a video script Tom recently wrote and, as it turned out, directed (post-production). Again, due to budget constraints, the video was done with computer graphics, digital images, music, sound effects and a Voice Over. The client was extremely happy with the end product claiming, "Tom was awesome!" on his client review.

Press Release

As a former Director of Marketing and Senior Copywriter for a high-speed signals technology company over seven years, Tom wrote all press releases and enjoyed great success in getting new products featured in leading industry trade magazines. Tom can promote your products or services, leveraging social and traditional media to give you a competitive edge.

As a copywriter, writing press releases skews towards the bland, due to the well-established formula for success. However, writing news releases that capture an editor's attention remains a coveted art form. Besides, there's no reason a press release can't be fun; just ensure you write about an enjoyable product or service, even if for your own amusement . . . such as the following spoof release:

Article

Upon the request of Ann Thryft, Senior Editor, RTC Magazine and COTS Journal at The RTC Group, Tom wrote byline articles to educate professionals in the Aerospace & Defense,Test & Measurement and Medical Imaging industries how server-class personal computers can deliver the highest performance capabilities for high-speed data acquisition, processing, storage and playback applications. Available samples include:

* Published article in RTC Magazine: "PC-Based Platforms Serve Up High-Speed Data Acquisition Systems"
* Published article in COTS Journal: "Scalable, Flexible PC Platforms Achieve SIGINT Spectrum Dominance"

Tom also ghost-wrote an article titled, "High-Speed Digitizers Recapture Innovation as ADCs Yield to FPGAs" for his supervisor. The article was published by RTC Magazine in 2010.
