Marlene's writing career began while working in the Stock and Bond Division of AT&T in the Wall Street area of New York City when she was promoted from Security Owner Correspondent to Policy and Procedure Analyst. Marlene worked for Opera Pacific, an opera company based in the city of Santa Ana in Orange County, California. The company performed at the Orange County Performing Arts Center (now called the Segerstrom Center for the Arts) in Costa Mesa.
