Marlene's writing career began while working in the Stock and Bond Division of AT&T in the Wall Street area of New York City when she was promoted from Security Owner Correspondent to Policy and Procedure Analyst. Her assignments included writing question and answer sheets for employees to use while fielding telephone inquiries, letter templates to be used when answering written inquiries, and sections of the corporate policy and procedure manuals.
Marlene has also written policy and procedure documents as part of her work as an analyst for Allied-Signal Aerospace Company and the Toshiba Corporation. Marlene has written content and created the graphics for various Web sites and has also worked as a copy editor and proofreader for a number of sites.
Marlene was the technical editor and proofreader for several Information Technology books -- published by Sybex and friends of ED -- dealing with Flash and ActionScript. This work involved reading the manuscripts and testing the code (computer programs) to be certain that the code did what the author claimed it would do.
Marlene had a consulting assignment in Stockholm, Sweden for Ab Trav och Galopp, a harness racing track, which was expanding the scope of its business to online betting. Her work included designing graphics, testing code, and writing content for the English language portion of the company's Web site.
For the past several years, Marlene has been doing freelance writing, proofreading, and copy editing. Since 2011, she has been publishing content-rich online articles under her byline for a site based in San Francisco, California. Publishing these articles involved use of SEO and Google Analytics. Marlene writes travel articles under her byline for a major client of a content marketing company based in Tampa, Florida.
Marlene uses The Associated Press Stylebook as her guide when writing. She has also used the Chicago Manual of Style when requested to do so by clients.
Marlene's writing is adaptable to the needs of her clients. She produces clear, concise copy in whatever genre is required.
Marlene has a four-year degree in Fine Arts and two occupational certificates, one in Travel Management and one in International Business. (Both of these certificates are 30+ college credits.) She is certified to teach all art subjects in Kindergarten through the 12th grade.

Grenada, Guadeloupe, Hong Kong, India, Mexico, Moorea, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Scotland, St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, Sweden, Tahiti, Taiwan, Venezuela, and Wales. She has also traveled to half of the states in this country.
Marlene enjoys travel and interacting with people who were born outside the United States. Marlene created a community (group) on Google+ for poets and poetry lovers. The members in this community reside in 70 countries.
In addition to her paid blog work, Marlene has created a number of personal blogs. One blog discusses poetry and another showcases writing samples.
Marlene has more than 750 Twitter followers and more than 3350 Google+ followers. She posts links on Twitter to the articles she has written under her byline and links to news stories which interest her. She also posts links to her articles on Google+.
