Summary of Experience
Jason was bitten with the writing bug in high school. On a whim, he decided to take a Journalism class, making him a member of his high school's student paper, which ran as a supplement to the local paper. After his first article was published, making him something of a local celebrity, he realized he had been bitten by the writing bug.

Jason's other passion was sports. As a four-sport letter winner in football, basketball, track and baseball (did we mention he lived in a small town), it seemed only natural to pursue a career in sports journalism once it became obvious the NBA wasn't calling.

While studying history and journalism at the University of Northern Iowa, Jason accepted a stringer position at the same small local paper he had written for in high school covering local sporting events. From there, he earned a part-time spot on the sports desk at the Waterloo Courier. After graduation, his first "real world" job was as a full-time sportswriter for the Marshalltown Times-Republican.

Jason stepped away from writing professionally in 2001. After moving to Denver, CO, he began working in community recreation for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. Of course, it remained a passion. In his free time, he composed articles for his fantasy baseball and football league websites.

In 2012, now with a family and a mortgage, Jason once again pursued writing professionally, this time as a freelancer.
Jason writes authoritatively on a number of subjects. However, cars, family life and sports are his go-to specialties.
Sports, the outdoors, technology and reading are just a few of Jason's hobbies when he is not writing.

There is only so much one can learn about writing. Having the depth of a frame of reference is much more valuable.

Projects by Industry

Jason has written numerous paid projects for clients in the automotive industry. Different projects he has worked on include straight car reviews, blog posts about vehicle maintenance and repair for repair shops, and even geo-targeted SEO pieces to drive traffic to specific dealers. Jason also does much of his own car repair, giving him a depth of knowledge regarding the subject.

Experience in this realm has been limited, but Jason has written about issues in the medical industry pertaining to recent scientific developments, the medical equipment sales industry and even vision-related topics for senior citizens.

Jason worked as a sports writer for approximately three years out of college, covering everything from local high school sports to NCAA Division I basketball. If it is a sport, he has probably covered it, and considers sports writing his true wheelhouse.

He has written a number of posts in the realm of outdoors and recreation, most notably for a company that markets protective helmets for baseball pitchers.

Home Living

Jason has mainly written a number of blog posts for a client in the greater Northwest that runs a well drilling business. He has also taken on a member of the fenestration industry and a major home improvement dealer in the Atlanta area.
