Courtney has worked in journalism and communications roles across a diverse international spectrum. Most recently, she was a PR Manager for one of the Middle East's largest retail and hospitality companies, managing the PR department of their international division. Courtney's role was focused on devising and leading a regional PR and communications strategy in their headquarters in Dubai and five country territories across the Arabian Gulf region; as well as liaising with brand partners in the UK and Europe to advise on regional objectives and projects; a job that necessitated a fundamental understanding of business, cultural and political issues and financial markets, bilingual content creation, and keen marketing strategy. Growing media coverage, building strong press and media networks and driving company KPIs in contributing to retail targets formed the core of success in this role. This was rooted in an ability to conceptualize promotional content for successful delivery to audiences and networks, along with guiding the in-house communications policies and media training activities.
Prior to this, Courtney worked for a magazine and digital publishing house, in both Dubai and London offices, establishing a digital department in the consumer publishing division from the ground up. A cornerstone of this role was launching the Esquire Middle East website and digital products, the Ana Emraâ€™a luxury lifestyle Arabic website, Harper's Bazaar Arabia website launch plan, and the Grazia Middle East back end system and digital database. The successful launch of these demanded the need for ambitious and stylized awareness and marketing campaigns, which provided a fundamental understanding of how to reach and engage untapped markets.
Furthermore, Courtney has experience with many different types of writing and editing projects, from ghostwriting, to feature and journalism writing, to copywriting, copy editing, press releases and PR communications, speech writing and spokesperson coaching, social media management, and overall marketing strategy.
