Lisanne worked briefly in the Development Office of Dwight Englewood School, where she was responsible for writing content for the alumni magazine and school newsletter. She also wrote copy for the school's admissions brochure. Her background teaching English and writing was well-suited to the position. While in that position, she interviewed Dwight-Englewood School Alumni Anthony Bourdain, who at the time was writing mystery novels and running a restaurant in Manhattan's Hells Kitchen neighborhood. Bourdain provided Lisanne with his favorite recipes, which she of course included in the newsletter.
