Emily is a freelance writer with years of experience writing for a variety of outlets and industries, in a range of styles. For more than 7 years, Emily worked for a small company in the Washington, DC, area that focuses on crafting written content for various client organizations. Industries included medical, security, and finance. She wrote abstracts and summaries of existing publications that reported concise information relevant to each client. These pieces were delivered in the form of e-newsletters, and the content distributed to association members or published to an organization's website. Clients included the Center for Responsible Lending, the American Diabetes Association, J.P. Morgan Chase, the American Nurses Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. In this position, Emily honed her writing and collaboration skills and learn to juggle multiple projects with a range of deadlines. The company standard followed AP style, although many clients requested alternate writing styles.
In April 2012, Emily self-published her first novel, a work of historical fiction. Completing this novel required great self-discipline and time management, as well as collaboration with her research and proofreading assistance. In her free time, Emily also maintains a personal blog, with several hundred subscribers that encourages many of those same skills. She is also active on several social-media platforms.
