|Star Rating||5 Stars|
|Location||Mill Creek, WA|
Summary of Science ExperienceDebbie earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Mary Washington College with majors in Biology and Psychology. Her studies were driven by her fascination with the mind-body interaction...a relatively new field at the time. After college, she transitioned into writing and web design but always maintained an interest in science and healthcare. Her writings include blog content for dentists and orthodontists, scientific news articles, patient education brochures, a scientific press release, and a white paper on the pharmaceutical drug ENBREL.
As part of a Science News Writing course at the University of Washington, Debbie wrote a feature story on research being conducted at the University of Victoria, Canada that will help disabled patients who suffer from lack of muscle control communicate with others on an advanced level. These patients are referred to as being "locked in"; a noted example is Stephen Hawking.
