Cruz is an author, filmmaker, musician and media junkie. He utilizes a free form prose style and strong character voice in everything he creates. Cruz is constantly in development and/or production on different projects using various mediums including comics, video and board games, screenplays, narrative fiction, short and feature films, and Transmedia experiences.

Cruz has had stories published in 365 Tomorrows and Poor Mojo's Almanac. He won first place in the Comedy/Spoken Word category of the Page One literary performance competition at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Cruz has earned his BFA from the intense Creative Writing for Entertainment program at Full Sail University, in Orlando, Florida.

He currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. A life long Californian, Cruz is learning to adapt to life outside of his home state, while also trying to continue to use the California street term "hella."

His current project is "R Street Metal-Heads," a web series about the clash of youthful dreams against the unforgiving world of methamphetamine addiction in small town America. Told from the perspective of a rising Chicano heavy metal band, the series will explore heavy metal and Hispanic culture and the effects of drug and alcohol abuse on America's youth.
Cruz's specialties include, video editing, filmmaking, entertainment review, product review, and more. His research skills also enable him to specialize in article writing and journalism.
Cruz is interested in all things entertainment, including movies, comics, literature, music and more. Geek culture, technology, healthy living, meditation, and family values are also of interest to Cruz.

Page One Literary Performance Contest | 1st Place Spoken Word/Comedy Nov 2006
In 2006, Cruz was asked by his English instructor to enter the Page One Literary contest. He wrote a one page comedy piece during class and performed it that night. He won 1st Place in his category and an award of $100.

As a Chicano artist, Cruz is proud to be a part of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers. He hopes that, through this organization, he can learn more about and become a contributing member of his culture.

Cruz published a blog in 2009. The blog quickly began to build an audience and was praised by members of entertainment blog, Geeks of Doom. Steaming from his background as a reporter and editor on his college newspaper, The Prospector, Cruz has covered articles from the impeachment of California governor Grey Davis to reviews of the latest movies.


Cruz has been studying film, video, and scriptwriting for over 13 years. He has been a professional videographer and has earned his BFA in Creative Writing. In 2012, he and filmmaking partner, Don Gonzales, premiered the first cut of their feature film Oscar's Theme 2. He is currently re-cutting the film for distribution as a web series and transmedia event.
