Shayla graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2009 with a major in Journalism and Advertising. While in school, she specialized in technical and copy writing. She put together and wrote columns for her sorority's monthly alumni newsletter. Meanwhile, at her internship at The Dancing Horses Theater she wrote press releases, speeches, and she liaised with her bosses's literary agent to help put together a now-published memoir.
After graduation she spent a year traveling before landing a job as a Show Survey Writer for Nielsen, a world-renowned marketing research company. In this position she wrote surveys that covered all of primetime television in order to collect data on the viewers' ability to recall. Eight months later she was promoted to Editor and a year after that, Managing Editor. These positions gave Shayla the unique experience of researching and being able to write about a variety of subjects - everything from reality TV, sports, crime dramas, documentaries, and everything in between. As a Managing Editor, Shayla often writes and makes presentations and trainings for her department and fellow departments in Nielsen.
Currently, Shayla is looking to gain more writing experience and to explore all areas and types of writing. She would like to work as a copywriter and novelist one day.
Shayla specializes in copywriting, technical writing, speeches, presentations, and creative writing. From her experience in the TV ad industry, she has a knowledge of vast subjects - most subjects that have been on TV have at one point been researched and written about by her.
When Shayla isn't writing for work or writing for fun, she enjoys reading, traveling, and dancing. You can often find her on the phone with her family - who live in Wisconsin - or spending time at a new restaurant with friends.
