Having completed an MA in Translation and Professional Language Skills at the University of Bath in 2013, Amy has been working in the City of London for a variety of Asian banks, providing support, linguistic and commercial, to Russian and French clients alike. Although her job focuses primarily upon banking, she is able to provide in-house translation, report-writing, editing and proofreading skills and is hoping to focus her attention full-time in this area.

Summary of Language Experience

French (EU) to English (UK)

Amy's first foray into translation from French to her native English arose whilst living in Montpellier, France, working in the international department of an 'Agence immobiliere,' and completing translations for housing advertisements on a daily basis. She has since completed a number of ad hoc freelance projects and focuses on translating in-house financial documents as part of her work. This can also include annual reports and financial statements, in addition to other formal documentation.

Russian to English (UK)

Having lived in Voronezh, Russia as part of her University of Bath year abroad Amy subsequently decided to undertake an MA in Translation and Professional Language skills, focusing primarily on Russian translation. This has allowed her to develop a higher sensitivity with regards the language and hone her translation skills in this language pair.

Having lived and worked in France as a translator, Amy has had first had experience of translating from French to English in a corporate environment. This has also been applicable in her banking experience, leading her to specialist in financial and business translation.
